India on Friday (June 5, 2020) recorded the highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases as well as in the number of deaths as more than 9800 cases and 273 deaths were reported in last 24 hours.

The total cases in India crossed 2.26 lakh mark and the recovery rate stands at 48.27 percent. As per the Ministry of Health data total coronavirus cases in India stands at 2,26,770 which includes 1,10,960 active cases, 109,461 recovered cases, 1 migrant patient and 6,348 deaths.

Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state with 77793 cases which includes 41402 active cases.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a total of 43,86,376 samples have been tested till now for Covid-19 out of which 1,43,661 samples have been tested in the last 24 hours.

The highest peak before today was recorded on Thursday as 9,304 cases 260 deaths were recorded in 24 hours.

In the New Delhi the number of cases crossed the 25,000 mark which includes 14456 active cases.  The death toll in the capital city now stands at 650.

A Total of 20 officials of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation tested positive with the metro administration saying that all precautionary measures are being taken to prevent the spread of the disease.
